Engineering Services

Advanced military applications demand solutions that can withstand harsh environmental conditions in a fail safe and reliable manner. Our comprehensive offering of commercial off-the-shelf technology (COTS) enables a baseline technical solution that can be enhanced through modifications to attain targeted specifications for military applications (mCOTS).

Partnering Where it Counts

We collaborate with our customers to develop products with an increased technical readiness level, reduced program risk, and lower development cost. While many military applications can benefit from COTS or mCOTS linear and rotary actuators, Exlar’s Ground and Naval Defense business segment also offers engineering services to support defense customers in the adaption of electric technologies.

Actuation Spotlight

The Curtiss-Wright Ground and Naval Defense (GaND) business segment collaborated with NAVSEA to provide the Naval Systems Warfare Center, Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD) with a state-of-the-art Small Linear Actuator Test Stand (SLATS). The relationship yielded a one-of-a-kind product to verify performance characteristics of small linear actuators against a known load. The initial data from the test stand is helping to understand the similarities and differences between electromechanical and electrohydraulic actuators. To read more, click here.
